SIGHTINGS - Limited-Edition Prints

Concurrent with the 1997 publication of SIGHTINGS, Peter Ralston released an extraordinary edition of fine-art prints from the book. Each personally chosen image will be restricted to only 25 prints plus five Artist's Proofs; all are hand-signed and -numbered by the artist. (Note: Peter Ralston is now making these limited-edition prints himself at his Rockport, Maine, studio. Prints are made on 17" x 22" paper from Hahnemuhle, the near-legendary German firm making great papers sinice 1584, using an archival inkset which imparts a tonal range and visual depth simply not possible before now.)

I can finally make prints which exactly capture what my mind's eye was seeing at the moment of exposure. No longer do I feel artistically limited by technical compromise or constraint—I've been waiting for this all my life. These prints are the fruit of my lifetime's association with great painters and thirty years work as a photographer searching for the perfect print medium. In 1971 I studied very briefly under Ansel Adams who, as a young man trained as a classical pianist, maintained, "If the exposure on film is the score, the final print is the performance." Each image will be restricted to only 25 prints plus five Artist's Proofs; all are hand-signed and -numbered by the artist and are approximately 16 x 20 inches, with a sheet size of 17 1/2 x 22 inches. Prices are subject to change without notice. Photographs are priced at $600. Photographs which have sold over 10 copies are priced at $800; photographs which have sold over 20 copies are priced at $1,000; the last print of each image will be priced at $1,500.
